The association is in collaboration with Vitiligo Support and Awareness Foundation is advocating for the declaration of World Vitiligo Day as we comprehend the great benefits the commemoration of this disease could bring to the patients such as public awareness, zero discrimination on vitiligo patients and further researches on finding a cure for vitiligo. Our reason for pursuing this mission is motivated by the Vision 2016 pillar “A Moral and Tolerant Nation”

Vitiligo is a condition in which people lose melanin – the pigment that gives skin its color – resulting in white patches of skin. While the exact cause of vitiligo is unknown, it has been confirmed that an autoimmune component plays a strong rolle in the disease. The chronic nature of the condition, long term treatment, lack of uniform effective therapy and unpredictable cause of the condition has a significant impact upon the quality of life for individuals living with vitiligo.

Over 100 million people suffer from vitiligo as a result of the social stigma and severe psychological burden that result. They are the victim of ostracism, discrimination and many lose their homes, families and livelihoods because of this disease, yet there is no cure in sight. By focusing on collaboration and education we can make a real difference in the lives of so many, and we can get closer to finding a cure.

World Vitiligo Day  is an annual day on June 25 specially dedicated to people with vitiligo. Conceived by patients for patients, World Vitiligo Day is a truly global event that aims to increase awareness of vitiligo and raise funds needed for research and education.

As Masedi and on behalf of people living with Vitiligo we would like to encourage you to sign the petition to make June  25 WORLD VITILIGO DAY.

Masedi a Botswana Association will adopt Bokamoso CJSS as from the beginning of
2nd term in May 2013, whereby we will visit the school fortnightly. The Association’s motive to
pursue this mission is driven by the thought of reviving the Vision 2016 Pillar 1: ‘An Educated,
Informed Nation’ as well as positively contributing to enhancing the academic performance of
the school.
Masedi a Botswana Association is a youth led organization and it is currently made up of mostly
influential and competent tertiary students who are well sorted to be the students’ peer educators.
We would like to collaborate in the area of training as we desire to be involved in the school’s
leadership program whereby we shall be opportune to empower the students through mentorship.
We intend to work with completing business students for atleast 2 hours a week, as the initiative
is to endow in them entrepreneurial skills through professional development seminars executed
through power point presentations, one on one sessions, group workshops, motivational talks and
personal development portfolios. The aim is to infuse the willingness by them to be hardworking and determined in their learning.
The members of Masedi a Botswana Association are going to do this through the provision of
emotional intelligence and transferrable skills. There will be debate sessions on issues making
headlines around the world as the aim is to encourage awareness on matters affecting the world
population and improve their communication and foster confidence; motivational talks where
students will be requested to fully participate in; and issuing of assignments and research on
classroom topics. The students will be given the opportunity to give feedback to their peers,
which will elevate and foster their critical skills.

We would like to encourage Tertiary School students from various fields of studies who are interested in volunteering their time to mentor these students to contact us . Let us come together to build a generation that is zealous to develop their country through entrepreneurship.

Thanks in advance.

The wind removes all traces of your footprints on each path you take, so does the waves of the sea along the beach sand , no amount of fossils collected could ever  trace all the paths you took in your life, but when you take a selfless step to help  someone in need, so that they can stand on their own feet and walk with you, you leave a footprint in their heart, the kind of footprint which can not be swept away by the wind nor flushed down my the waves, the kind of foot print that leaves evidence of your existence here on earth, the footprint that says you were here, the kind that makes a difference.

At Masedi we are dedicated to leave footprints across Botswana ,to make a difference ,to impact the lives of Batswana by reaching out to the people and communities that need a helping hand. We encourage you to join as and walk with us as we leave footprints in our own soils One person at a time , One step at a time we can do it!!!
